Surah Nooh - Aya count 28

إِنَّآ أَرْسَلْنَا نُوحًا إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِۦٓ أَنْ أَنذِرْ قَوْمَكَ مِن قَبْلِ أَن يَأْتِيَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌۭ ﴿١﴾

We sent Noah to his people, saying, 'Warn thy people, ere there come on them a painful chastisement.'

قَالَ يَٰقَوْمِ إِنِّى لَكُمْ نَذِيرٌۭ مُّبِينٌ ﴿٢﴾

He said, 'O my people, I am unto you a clear warner,

أَنِ ٱعْبُدُواْ ٱللَّهَ وَٱتَّقُوهُ وَأَطِيعُونِ ﴿٣﴾

saying, \"Serve God, and fear Him, and obey you me,

يَغْفِرْ لَكُم مِّن ذُنُوبِكُمْ وَيُؤَخِّرْكُمْ إِلَىٰٓ أَجَلٍۢ مُّسَمًّى ۚ إِنَّ أَجَلَ ٱللَّهِ إِذَا جَآءَ لَا يُؤَخَّرُ ۖ لَوْ كُنتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿٤﴾

and He will forgive you your sins, and defer you to a stated term; God's term, when it comes, cannot be deferred, did you but know.\"'

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُ قَوْمِى لَيْلًۭا وَنَهَارًۭا ﴿٥﴾

He said; 'My Lord, I have called my people by night and by day,

فَلَمْ يَزِدْهُمْ دُعَآءِىٓ إِلَّا فِرَارًۭا ﴿٦﴾

but my calling has only increased them in flight.

وَإِنِّى كُلَّمَا دَعَوْتُهُمْ لِتَغْفِرَ لَهُمْ جَعَلُوٓاْ أَصَٰبِعَهُمْ فِىٓ ءَاذَانِهِمْ وَٱسْتَغْشَوْاْ ثِيَابَهُمْ وَأَصَرُّواْ وَٱسْتَكْبَرُواْ ٱسْتِكْبَارًۭا ﴿٧﴾

And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud.

ثُمَّ إِنِّى دَعَوْتُهُمْ جِهَارًۭا ﴿٨﴾

Then indeed I called them openly;

ثُمَّ إِنِّىٓ أَعْلَنتُ لَهُمْ وَأَسْرَرْتُ لَهُمْ إِسْرَارًۭا ﴿٩﴾

then indeed I spoke publicly unto them, and I spoke unto them secretly,

فَقُلْتُ ٱسْتَغْفِرُواْ رَبَّكُمْ إِنَّهُۥ كَانَ غَفَّارًۭا ﴿١٠﴾

and I said, \"Ask you forgiveness of your Lord; surely He is ever All-forgiving,

يُرْسِلِ ٱلسَّمَآءَ عَلَيْكُم مِّدْرَارًۭا ﴿١١﴾

and He will loose heaven upon you in torrents

وَيُمْدِدْكُم بِأَمْوَٰلٍۢ وَبَنِينَ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ جَنَّٰتٍۢ وَيَجْعَل لَّكُمْ أَنْهَٰرًۭا ﴿١٢﴾

and will succour you with wealth and sons, and will appoint for you gardens, and will appoint for you rivers.

مَّا لَكُمْ لَا تَرْجُونَ لِلَّهِ وَقَارًۭا ﴿١٣﴾

What ails you, that you look not for majesty in God,

وَقَدْ خَلَقَكُمْ أَطْوَارًا ﴿١٤﴾

seeing He created you by stages?

أَلَمْ تَرَوْاْ كَيْفَ خَلَقَ ٱللَّهُ سَبْعَ سَمَٰوَٰتٍۢ طِبَاقًۭا ﴿١٥﴾

Have you not regarded how God created seven heavens one upon another,

وَجَعَلَ ٱلْقَمَرَ فِيهِنَّ نُورًۭا وَجَعَلَ ٱلشَّمْسَ سِرَاجًۭا ﴿١٦﴾

and set the moon therein for a light and the sun for a lamp?

وَٱللَّهُ أَنۢبَتَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَرْضِ نَبَاتًۭا ﴿١٧﴾

And God caused you to grow out of the earth,

ثُمَّ يُعِيدُكُمْ فِيهَا وَيُخْرِجُكُمْ إِخْرَاجًۭا ﴿١٨﴾

then He shall return you into it, and bring you forth.

وَٱللَّهُ جَعَلَ لَكُمُ ٱلْأَرْضَ بِسَاطًۭا ﴿١٩﴾

And God has laid the earth for you as a carpet,

لِّتَسْلُكُواْ مِنْهَا سُبُلًۭا فِجَاجًۭا ﴿٢٠﴾

that thereof you may thread ways, ravines.\"

قَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ إِنَّهُمْ عَصَوْنِى وَٱتَّبَعُواْ مَن لَّمْ يَزِدْهُ مَالُهُۥ وَوَلَدُهُۥٓ إِلَّا خَسَارًۭا ﴿٢١﴾

Noah said, 'My Lord, they have rebelled against me, and followed him whose wealth and children increase him only in loss,

وَمَكَرُواْ مَكْرًۭا كُبَّارًۭا ﴿٢٢﴾

and have devised a mighty device

وَقَالُواْ لَا تَذَرُنَّ ءَالِهَتَكُمْ وَلَا تَذَرُنَّ وَدًّۭا وَلَا سُوَاعًۭا وَلَا يَغُوثَ وَيَعُوقَ وَنَسْرًۭا ﴿٢٣﴾

and have said, \"Do not leave your gods, and do not leave Wadd, nor Suwa', Yaghuth, Ya'uq, neither Nasr.\"

وَقَدْ أَضَلُّواْ كَثِيرًۭا ۖ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا ضَلَٰلًۭا ﴿٢٤﴾

And they have led many astray. Increase Thou not the evildoers save in error!'

مِّمَّا خَطِيٓـَٰٔتِهِمْ أُغْرِقُواْ فَأُدْخِلُواْ نَارًۭا فَلَمْ يَجِدُواْ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ أَنصَارًۭا ﴿٢٥﴾

And because of their transgressions they were drowned, and admitted into a Fire, for they found not, apart from God, any to help them.

وَقَالَ نُوحٌۭ رَّبِّ لَا تَذَرْ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ مِنَ ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ دَيَّارًا ﴿٢٦﴾

And Noah said, 'My Lord, leave not upon the earth of the unbelievers even one.

إِنَّكَ إِن تَذَرْهُمْ يُضِلُّواْ عِبَادَكَ وَلَا يَلِدُوٓاْ إِلَّا فَاجِرًۭا كَفَّارًۭا ﴿٢٧﴾

Surely, if Thou leavest them, they will lead Thy servants astray, and will beget none but unbelieving libertines.

رَّبِّ ٱغْفِرْ لِى وَلِوَٰلِدَىَّ وَلِمَن دَخَلَ بَيْتِىَ مُؤْمِنًۭا وَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِ وَلَا تَزِدِ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ إِلَّا تَبَارًۢا ﴿٢٨﴾

My Lord, forgive me and my parents and whosoever enters my house as a believer, and the believers, men and women alike; and do Thou not increase the evildoers save in ruin!'
